Dick Van Dyke Flees Malibu Home Amid Raging Franklin Fire, Reveals Beloved Cat Is Missing
Dick Van Dyke is safe and sound after fleeing his Malibu home during a raging wildfire. The Hollywood icon shared in a Facebook post on Dec. 10 that he and his wife, Arlene Silver, made it out of the area but sadly weren’t able to take one beloved pet with them. “Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo [who] escaped as we were leaving,” he wrote, referring to one of their cats. “We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires.” Van Dyke went on to share a video of the orange tabby and wrote “Hoping Bobo is ok” in his caption. The news comes just days ahead of Van Dyke’s 99th birthday. He is not the only legendary entertainer affected by the fire – Cher’s publicist confirmed to multiple outlets including the New York Times that she is staying at a hotel with her pets, while fellow Malibu resident Jane Seymour shared harrowing Instagram footage of the flames and assured fans she has safely evacuated. As of Dec. 11, the Franklin Fire had grown to nearly 4,000 acres with just 7 percent containment. A reported 20,000 residents were given evacuation warnings.
