Simone Biles To Return To Gymnastics Competition For First Time Since 2020 Olympics At U.S. Classic
Simone Biles is set to make her gymnastics competition return! On Wednesday, it was announced that the Olympic Gold medalist has joined the entrant list for the 2023 U.S. Classic. “The last two Olympic all-around gold medalists, Simone Biles (2016) and Sunisa Lee (2020), are joined by 2020 Olympic floor champion Jade Carey on a list that includes 11 Olympic and World Championships medalists entered in the U.S. Classic, set for August 4-5 at NOW Arena in suburban Chicago.” A statement from the U.S. Classic said. The trio will also be joined by their fellow Olympian, Jordan Chiles. According to the organization, registration does not necessarily guarantee participation, but team USA seemed to confirm the 26-year-old’s plans to dive back in on Instagram that same day – sharing a photo of Simone from Tokyo and writing “Biles is Back.” In July 2021, the seven-time medalist withdrew from the Individual All-Around Final mid-competition at the Tokyo Olympics ending her chance to defend her title. She later explained that she stepped away to focus on her mental health.
