Sharon Stone Calls Out ‘Uneducated’ Americans After Donald Trump’s Election Win
Sharon Stone isn’t holding back her thoughts on the post-election climate in the U.S. The Oscar nominee spoke out at a press conference for the Torino Film Festival in Italy on Nov. 24, where she was honored with a lifetime achievement award. Though Stone did not mention Donald Trump by name, she appeared to be referencing the President-elect and his supporters while sharing her thoughts on the incoming administration. “Italy has seen fascism. Italy has seen these things—you guys, you understand what happens. You have seen this before,” Stone said, adding, “My country is in its adolescence. Adolescence is very arrogant. Adolescence thinks it knows everything. Adolescence is naive and ignorant and arrogant, and we are in our ignorant, arrogant adolescence. … We haven’t seen this before in our country. So Americans who don’t travel, who 80 percent don’t have a passport, who are uneducated, are in their extraordinary naivete.” According to the State Department, 51 percent of Americans hold a valid passport as of October 2024 – up from 46 percent the previous year. Stone publicly supported Kamala Harris in the election and her latest comments come months after she told Deadline that she was considering a move to Europe in light of the political tension in the States.
