Maria Menounos Reveals Secret Battle With Pancreatic Cancer While Expecting First Baby
Maria Menounos is revealing the shocking news that she privately battled stage 2 pancreatic cancer earlier this year. On Wednesday, the “Healing Squad” podcast host opened up to People about the devastating diagnosis. “I’m like ‘How in the freaking world can I have a brain tumor and pancreatic cancer? All I could think was that I have a baby coming,” she said. The 44-year-old, who is expecting her first child with her husband, Keven Undergaro, via surrogate this summer, explained that they discovered it was cancer in January and in February she underwent a successful surgery to extract a 3.9-cm. tumor. During the procedure, doctors also removed part of her pancreas, her spleen, a large fibroid and 17 lymph nodes. During the interview she recalled having a tough conversation with her husband saying, “‘If something happens, here are the people I want her around and what I want you to do. You’ll probably have to move back East to be with my dad so that she has him.’ We talked about all of it. We imagined the worst.”
