Dave Franco Reacts to Luigi Mangione Comparisons: ‘Never Received More Texts in My Life’
Dave Franco is sharing his thoughts on being labeled as the celebrity doppelgänger to Luigi Mangione. Speaking with “The Hollywood Reporter” at the Sundance Film Festival alongside his wife and “Together” costar Alison Brie, as well as the film’s director Michael Shanks, the actor revealed that his phone has been blowing up with messages regarding the viral physical comparisons to the 26-year-old who is accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. “Has anyone approached you to play Luigi? To play hot Luigi?” someone from the publication is heard asking off-camera, leading Brie to first reply, “Anyone? Do you mean everyone?” The 39-year-old then chimed in, saying, “I have never received more texts in my life about anything.” Though the Emmy-nominated actor clarified there hasn’t been any official offers to portray the University of Pennsylvania graduate, he went on to share just how many people have reached out. “Not just friends. Anyone who has my phone number has reached out about it.” Mangione has previously pleaded not guilty to New York state charges. He also faces federal charges, though he has not yet been asked to enter a plea on those charges, according to Reuters.
