Jason Derulo Calls Sexual Harassment Claims ‘False & Hurtful’ After Aspiring Singer’s Lawsuit

Jason Derulo is responding to a new lawsuit accusing him of sexual harassment. The pop and R&B star, 34, denied aspiring singer Emaza Gibson’s allegations that her contract with his record company was terminated after she refused to sleep with him. In an Instagram video posted on Oct. 5, Derulo called Gibson’s claims “defamatory” and “false and hurtful,” adding that he is “deeply offended” and remains “supportive of anybody following their dreams.” Gibson’s suit, filed in Los Angeles hours before Derulo’s post and obtained by NBC News, claims that Derulo took her on as a protégé and “maliciously” promised success in exchange for sex.
