Aimee Lou Wood Says She’s ‘Had Apologies’ from ‘SNL’ After Slamming ‘White Potus’ Sketch

Aimee Lou Wood is sharing an update to her social media followers after expressing frustration over a “Saturday Night Live” skit from over the weekend which parodied her appearance. On Sunday, April 13, the actress posted an Instagram story revealing, “I’ve had apologies from SNL.” Earlier in the day, the 31-year-old had shared her disappointment over the pre-taped sketch she described as “mean” and “unfunny” which spoofed “The White Lotus” season 3 that she starred in as fan-favorite character Chelsea. Dubbed “White Potus,” the sketch comedy show replaced the cast of the HBO series with President Donald Trump, his family, and cabinet members. At one point, host Jon Hamm played Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as he channeled Walton Goggins’ character Rick and made a joke about fluoride to cast member Sarah Sherman who played Wood’s Chelsea, wearing fake teeth. “I’ve been having so many insane ideas – like what if we took fluoride our of the drinking water? What would that do to people’s teeth?” Hamm’s character tells Sherman’s who replies, “Fluoride, what’s that? Oh look, a monkey!” In one of her posts, the BAFTA winner explained why the joke didn’t land, sharing in part, “I actually love being taken the piss out of when it’s clever and in good spirits. But the joke was about fluoride. I have big gap teeth not bad teeth.” The English actress has also previously expressed her exhaustion over the ongoing conversation surrounding her gap-teeth. “It makes me a bit sad because I’m not getting to talk about my work. They think it’s nice because they’re not criticizing,” she said in part to GQ.
