Demi Lovato Opens Up About Wanting To Ensure ‘Sacred Childhood’ Out Of Public Eye For Future Kids

Demi Lovato is making their directorial debut with the documentary “Child Star,” a documentary featuring the stories of many Hollywood icons who got their start in the industry as children. At the premiere of the film, which she co-directed with Nicola Marsh, Demi told Access Hollywood what it was like to tell such an important story as a first directing project. The singer and performer also gushed over interviewing Drew Barrymore for the documentary and shared what they learned from her. Plus, Demi shed light on how she feels about the possibility of future children wanting to take part in the industry. “It’s not something that I would push on my kids by any means,” they shared. “If anything, I want to protect them from social media and being in front of the public eye as much as I can, and then when they’re of age to follow their dreams. I want to support them as much as possible. I think the way that I would be supporting them is by protecting them from being in the public eye too soon. And so, when I think about having kids, I think about telling them, ‘You can perfect your craft and practice and get as great as you possibly can at it, and then when you turn 18, then you can follow your dreams. But I think having those years of just like sacred childhood is really important to every kid.” “Child Star” debuts on Hulu on Sept. 17.
