Suni Lee’s Bronze In Dramatic All-Around Final Makes U.S. Women’s Gymnastics History

Suni Lee’s Olympics comeback is already historic! The 21-year-old snagged her second medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics after she took home the bronze at the Women’s Gymnastics All-Around Final on Aug. 1. But the road to the podium wasn’t easy! The Minnesota native fought off two types of kidney disease over the past year and didn’t start training for the Olympics until January. Once she got to the Olympics, the battle didn’t stop! At the all-around finals, she was fighting it out all competition with Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour and Italy’s Alice D’Amato. Thursday was a big day for Team USA as Suni took home the bronze and her teammate Simone Biles snagged the gold in the All-Around competition. This is Simone and Suni’s second medal at the Paris Olympics. They both took home the gold at the Team Final. Their podium finish also marks the third time the United States has put two women on the women’s all-around podium. Simone is also the first American gymnast to win the gold twice in the All-Around Final plus, she and Suni are now the first U.S. Olympic gymnasts to own multiple All-Around medals.
