Nicole Kidman Announces Mother’s Sudden Death As She Misses Best Actress Win In Venice: ‘In Shock’

Nicole Kidman is mourning the loss of her mother, Janelle Ann Kidman. On Saturday, Sept. 7, the actress announced in a statement at the Venice Film Festival that she had to leave early due to her mother’s sudden passing. Her statement was read aloud by “Babygirl” director Halina Reijn during what would have been Nicole’s best actress acceptance speech for her role in the film. “I’m in shock and I have to go to my family, but this award is for her. She shaped me, she guided me and she made me,” the Academy Award winner said in part.
