Selena Gomez Is Taking A Social Media Break Due To ‘Hate, Violence And Terror’ In The World

Selena Gomez is taking a break from social media. On Monday, the “Only Murders in the Building” star took to Instagram to reveal she is taking a step back from the platform due to all the “violence and terror” going on in the world. “I’ve been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all the horror, hate, violence and terror that’s going on in the world. People being tortured and killed or any act of hate towards any one group is horrific,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. “We need to protect ALL people, especially children and stop the violence for good. I’m sorry if my words will never been enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can’t stand by innocent people getting hurt. That’s what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won’t.” The 31-year-old may be referencing the ongoing war in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas, though she hasn’t clarified. Since October thousands of Palestinians and Israelis have been killed in the conflict, per NBC News.
