Two Midwestern TV personalities recently made a sad on-air announcement. WHTI News10’s anchor Patrece Dayton and chief meteorologist Kevin Orpurt told their viewers in Terre Haute, Ind., that the broadcast would be their final one, going on to share that they were laid off. “For those of you who don’t know, both of our positions are being eliminated here at WTHI-TV. The television news business in general is changing nationwide, and budget cuts are happening everywhere,” Patrece shared. “After four decades of dedication to WHTI and to the Wabash Valley, we had both hoped to go out on our own terms to celebrate, but that’s not the case,” Kevin added.
