Hugh Grant’s Oompa-Loompa Casting In ‘Wonka’ Film Criticized By Actor With Dwarfism

Hugh Grant’s casting in the upcoming movie “Wonka” is facing some criticism. The “Paddington 2” actor portrays an Oompa-Loompa in the upcoming musical film, which stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular chocolatier. George Coppen, a British actor with dwarfism who has appeared in “Willow” and “The School for Good And Evil,” has raised issue with Hugh’s casting, telling the BBC that he believes the role should have gone to an actor with dwarfism. He explained, “A lot of actors [with dwarfism] feel like we are being pushed out of the industry we love. A lot of people, myself included, argue that dwarfs should be offered everyday roles in dramas and soaps, but we aren’t getting offered those roles. One door is being closed but they have forgotten to open the next one.”
