“Saturday Night Live” has entered the chat. One week after musical guest Morgan Wallen abruptly exited the show as soon as credits rolled, posting to social media shortly after from a private jet alongside the text, “Get me to God’s country,” the sketch comedy series poked fun at the singer’s viral move. During the April 5 cold open, “SNL” cast member James Austin Johnson played Donald Trump as he spoofed the president’s tariff announcement in the Rose Garden last week and included a mention of Wallen’s Instagram story. “No country is safe from my tariffs. I even put tariffs on an island that is uninhabited by humans. It’s called Heard and McDonald Island. McDonald Island. I’d love to visit there – McDonald Island. Can you imagine that? A Big Mac and a hula skirt, oh la la ….Get me to God’s country, right? Remember that?” Later in the episode, Colin Jost also made a joke about Wallen’s exit while discussing the stock market’s plummet after Trump revealed his tariff plan, saying, “Just in the past two days, investors have lost over $6 trillion. Money is leaving the stock market faster than Morgan Wallen at goodnights.” Plus, Jack Black returned to host show for the first time in 20 years. The actor, who broke out in song during his monologue, was joined by Elton John, who last appeared in 2011, and Brandi Carlile as musical guests.
