Hoda Kotb Emotionally Announces That She’s Leaving ‘Today’ Show After 26 Years at NBC

Hoda Hotb is stepping away from the “Today” show. The longtime NBC news anchor made the announcement during the second hour of the “Today” show on Thursday, Sept. 26. Tearfully, surrounded by her colleagues, she told viewers, “I realized it was time for me to turn the page at 60.” Kotb celebrated the milestone birthday on the show back in August. In addition to pursuing new adventures in the new decade, Kotb is making the move for her daughters, 7-year-old Haley and 4-year-old Hope. Obviously I had my kiddos late in life and I was thinking that they deserve a bigger piece of my time pie that I have. I feel like we only have a finite amount of time.” Kotb is expected to stay on the air through the end of the year, with the promise of working on other projects with NBC in the future.
