Katy Perry Attacks ‘Blasphemy’ As Gaga Video Premieres

Shooting whip cream from a brassiere is one thing – but add a cross and you’ve crossed Katy Perry.

The curve-flaunting “California Gurls” singer Tweeted a message seemingly aimed at Lady Gaga’s new, religious-themed video for “Alejandro” on Tuesday.

“Using blasphemy as entertainment is as cheap as a comedian telling a fart joke,” she Tweeted.

Gaga’s typically provocative video for the “The Fame Monster” track features, among other images, Gaga sporting cross-covered outfits while engaging in racy sexual acts – reminiscent of Madonna’s similarly Christian-referencing video for “Like a Prayer.”

Katy’s parents are both ministers, and the star released a self-titled gospel album as Katy Hudson before re-branding herself as a bi-curious pop tart with “I Kissed A Girl.”

Meanwhile, the Snoop Dogg-aided “California Gurls,” which features Katy’s aforementioned whip cream bra-blasting in a teaser for its video, jumped to No. 1 on the Billboard charts this week, selling 318,000 downloads.

No word on how she felt about fiance Russell Brand’s 2008 comic attacks on the Jonas Brothers’ purity rings at the MTV Video Music Awards.
