Captain Cold’s Dad Coming To ‘The Flash’; ‘Smallville’ Alum To Guest Star On CW Show

Captain Cold has a lot of issues, and it appears “The Flash” Season 2 may be able to explain why, as The CW series introduces his father.

Michael Ironside, who played Lois Lane’s dad on “Smallville,” will play Lewis Snart in the Tuesday night superhero drama, Access Hollywood has confirmed.

According to the character description, Lewis is the “estranged” and “abusive” father of Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Lisa Snart (Peyton List).

Lewis is a cold-blooded and ruthless career criminal, who returns to Central City with a “devious plan that will put both” of his kids in danger, per the official character description.

Michael will appear in the third episode of “The Flash” Season 2.

Over the weekend at Comic-Con, while discussing “The Flash”/”Arrow” spinoff “Legends of Tomorrow,” which Wentworth’s Captain Cold is a part of, Access asked the actor about his character’s flaws, including always needing to get something out of helping someone else.

“Hopefully we’ll get to explore some of that, because I’m curious as to why he is the way that he is,” Wentworth said of his upcoming show, premiering on The CW next year. “That’s one of the great things about this DC Comics/Greg Berlanti universe is that it’s not just about the action-adventure and the CGI. You do spend time on character, you do find out why these people tick and I think that’s what makes them relatable. That’s why you care when things happen to them.”

The Hollywood Reporter first announced the casting news.
