Bret Easton Ellis: Kathryn Bigelow Is ‘Really Overrated’ Because She’s A ‘Hot Woman’

Bret Easton Ellis has another target in his Twitter crosshairs – Kathryn Bigelow.

The polarizing writer took to Twitter to criticize the Academy Award-winning “Zero Dark Thirty” director on Wednesday night, saying she gets more industry credit than she deserves due to her gender (and good looks) in a male-dominated field.

“Kathryn Bigelow would be considered a mildly interesting filmmaker if she was a man but since she’s a very hot woman she’s really overrated,” he wrote, adding, “’Strange Days,’ ‘K-19 The Widowmaker,’ ‘Blue Steel,’ ‘The Hurt Locker.’ Are we talking about visionary filmmaking or just OK junk?”

“The Canyons” writer was consequently unfollowed by multiple Twitter users, prompting Ellis to fire off a response.

“Anyone Unfollowing me should have known better and never Followed me in the first place. Wise up: p*****s and snowflakes. Get the F over it,” he tweeted on Thursday.

And Bigelow was just one object of Ellis’ trolling this week.

On Tuesday, the writer took aim at Tom Hooper’s upcoming big screen adaptation of “Les Miserables,” Tweeting, “The film version of ‘Les Miserables’ is so bad that it made me rethink why I ever loved the stage version. 2 hours and 40 minutes of tacky.”

Also included in his anti-“Les Mis” rant? Anne Hathaway’s performance as Fantine (already earning early Oscar buzz in other circles).

“Anne Hathaway’s ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ in ‘Les Miserables’ is shot in one close-up and is so overwrought the dummies in the audience applauded…” he wrote.
