“Star Wars” may be expanding on the big screen, but could its universe reach primetime network television as well?
That was one of the questions on Thursday during Channing Dungey’s executive session at ABC’s portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills.
Specifically, Dungey, ABC’s Entertainment President, was asked if she imagines, before her tenure at ABC is over (she only moved into the position earlier this year), she will develop a “Star Wars” series, and the top boss said she would indeed like to.

“Oh, as a fan, I would absolutely love to say yes. The conversations with Lucas[film], you know, we have had conversations with them, we will continue to have conversations with them,” she said. “I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand onto our programming.”
After the session, when pressed for more details about the network’s talks with Lucasfilm about “Star Wars,” Dungey said she couldn’t say much about her discussions with the company.

“It’s all a little bit hush-hush and that company exists under a big shroud of secrecy,” she told reporters. “If you feel Marvel’s secretive, Lucas[film] takes it a whole other level.”
