Tom Cruise Rappels Into Paris Olympics Closing Ceremony Before Jaw-Dropping Skydiving Stunt

Mission accepted! 2028 may still be four years away, but the Olympics have already gone Hollywood. Tom Cruise showed off his signature stunt work in a jaw-dropping appearance at the Paris Olympics closing ceremony on Aug. 11, rappelling from the roof of the Stade de France to land onstage and receive the Olympic flag from Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and star gymnast Simone Biles. Tom proceeded to “deliver” the flag in an official handoff from Paris ahead of the next Summer Games, and of course the journey was straight out of a big screen blockbuster. Tom drove a motorcycle through the crowd and out of the stadium before a pre-taped sequence showed him riding into a large jet and then skydiving over the Hollywood sign, where athletes then took over taking the flag all the way to the beach, where L.A. icons Red Hot Chili Peppers, Billie Eilish and Snoop Dogg all performed live. Singer and guitarist H.E.R. performed the U.S. national anthem ahead of Tom’s appearance to symbolize the Olympic handoff to Los Angeles. Reports of Tom’s cameo leaked ahead of the big event, but fans had already gotten a glimpse of him in the stands at multiple events throughout the Games. And, it’s not the first time the A-lister has brought star power to the Olympics. Back in 2004, he participated in a Los Angeles torch relay for the Athens Games, carrying the iconic flame through Dodger Stadium.
