Steve Martin Joins Whoopi Goldberg In Defending Jo Koy’s Golden Globes Monologue
Steve Martin has nothing but support for Jo Koy following his controversial Golden Globes monologue. The comedic icon, 78, took to his Threads on Jan. 9 to share thoughts how hard it is to do a live hosting gig, jokingly revealing he’s still recovering from the time he took a stab at it. “I tip my hat to anyone who steps out on stage to host a live awards show. It’s a very difficult job and not for the squeamish. I know because I’m still throwing up from the last time I did it in 2010,” he wrote. Steve last took the hosting stage with Alec Baldwin at the 82nd Academy Awards, so he concluded on a light note to congratulate the “Easter Sunday” actor. “So, Congratulations to Jo Koy, who took on the toughest gig in show business, hit, missed, was light on his feet, and now has twenty minutes of new material for his stand up!” he penned. The “Only Murders In The Building” star wasn’t the only A-lister to defend Jo. Whoopi Goldberg also stood up for the comedian during “The View” on Monday.
