‘SNL’ Cast Sarcastically Praises Donald Trump After Election Win: ‘We Have Been With You All Along’
In the first show since Tuesday’s presidential election, the cast of “Saturday Night Live” sarcastically praised Donald Trump for his victory over Vice President Kamala Harris. The cold open began in a somber tone as Bowen Yang, Ego Nwodim, Heidi Gardner, and Kenan Thompson reflected on the election results. They pointed out that the president-elect had previously called for “vengeance against his political enemies” and that there is nothing to protect people who are “brave enough to speak out against him,” noting that there are “no guardrails” thanks to the Supreme Court. “That is why we at ‘SNL’ would like to say to Donald Trump — we have been with you all along,” joked Thompson. Yang then chimed in, “We have never wavered in our support of you, even when others doubted you.” The skit also saw James Austin Johnson, who has been portraying Donald Trump, turn into a “hot, jacked” version of the president-elect with large biceps, while Dana Carvey, known for playing President Joe Biden, debuted his Elon Musk impression.
