Selena Gomez Promises She’ll ‘Never Be a Meme Again’ After Her 2023 MTV VMAs Reactions Go Viral
The heart wants what it wants, and Selena Gomez’s doesn’t want to be a meme anymore. Early Wednesday morning, the “Single Soon” singer took to Instagram to declare that she no longer wants to be made into a meme after her reactions at the MTV VMAs went viral. “I will never be a meme again. I’d rather sit still than be dragged for being myself. Much love,” she wrote. The candid comment comes after Selena’s reaction to Olivia Rodrigo’s performance went viral as the singer psyched out the crowd with a faux stage malfunction at the award show. At the same time, the Comments by Celebs Instagram account also screenshotted the 31-year-old’s response to iHeartRadio Australia’s post about her reaction to hearing Chris Brown’s VMAs nomination, where she wrote: “Who cares lol” In one snap on Instagram stories, Selena made fun of herself with her pal Taylor Swift, sharing a photo of them embracing at the event, and writing: “She looks stunning I look constipated…typical.” The “Only Murders in the Building” star also went viral last month when people started to caption a photo of her wrapped in a blanket on social media.
