Richard Gere is calling out President Donald Trump and encouraging people to be kind to one another. The “An Officer and a Gentleman” actor was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Spain’s Goya Awards. During his speech, the actor who recently moved to Spain to be closer to his wife’s family, spoke about what is happening in the U.S. saying the country is in a “dark place.” “We have unfortunately elected officials that don’t inspire us in the way we want to be inspired,” Gere said to the audience. He continued, “I’m coming from a place now that, we’re in a very dark place in America, where we have a bully and a thug who is the president of the United States.
