Miley Cyrus Blames Mom Tish Cyrus for Idea to Pole Dance During 2009 Teen Choice Awards Performance

Miley Cyrus is calling out her mom, Tish Cyrus. While speaking with her sister Brandi for Spotify’s “Billions Club” series, the pop star explained that it was their mother who had the idea for her to dance with a pole attached to an ice cream cart during her 2009 Teen Choice Awards performance of “Party in the U.S.A.” “This is going to be no surprise to you. Do you know whose idea that was?” Miley asked her sister who answered with Tish. The singer then replied, “Yup, that was my mom’s idea. So, she always lets me take the blame. When I got in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found? Tish Cyrus.” The 32-year-old then shared that the performance is memorable for her for a different reason as she revealed it was the first time she wore real diamond jewelry onstage. “So you guys remember a little old ice cream truck, I remember the diamonds,” she said.
