Mama June Shannon Has Temporary Custody Of Late Daughter Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell’s Daughter

Mama June Shannon has stepped up her role as Grandmama. The reality star, 44, has been granted temporary custody of Kaitlyn, her 11-year-old granddaughter, over the ex-husband of her late daughter, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell, according to multiple outlets. In the court documents, Mama June had filed for emergency custody in Georgia because Kaitlyn had been living with her since early November. Anna raised Kaitlyn and her 8-year-old daughter Kylee with her ex-husband Michael Cardwell, but he was not Kaitlyn’s biological father. The couple split in 2017. In March 2023, she tied the knot with Eldridge Toney but at the time she was receiving treatment for stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, which Anna was diagnosed with in January 2023. Anna sadly lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 9 at 29 years old, which Mama June announced on Instagram at the time. Anna was laid to rest at a private funeral in Georgia four days later surrounded by her mom, husband and Kaitlyn.
