Celebrities are speaking out in amid the latest escalation in the Israel-Hamas conflict. On Saturday, militant group Hamas launched surprise attacks on Israel, firing thousands of rockets and infiltrating the border. The Israeli military in return launched airstrikes into Gaza, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later declared in a televised address to Israeli citizens that “we are at war.” NBC News reports, citing officials, that the ensuing conflict has left more than 1,200 dead, with at least 700 casualties in Israel, per the Israeli military, and more than 570 in Gaza and the West Bank, per the Palestinian Health Ministry. Madonna, Gal Gadot, Natalie Portman and Florence Pugh were among the celebrities who weighed in on the news on social media.
