Halle Bailey Recalls Crying During Fantasia Barrino’s ‘The Color Purple’ Performance On Set
Halle Bailey is sharing secrets from “The Color Purple” set. On Wednesday, the 23-year-old spoke with Access Hollywood’s Scott Evans at the Los Angeles premiere and she gushed about being part of the upcoming film. “When [Fantasia Barrino] sings the song ‘I’m Here” we all came to set. I wasn’t working that day on set, but it was a night shoot and we all…me and Phylicia went in our sweats and it was cold and we were like ‘we have to see her perform this’ because she was singing it live, every take!” Halle explained. “We were all just standing there watching her crying literally, I get chills just thinking about it.” “The Little Mermaid” star also gushed about Oprah. “[Oprah’s] so loving and protects you so I felt so safe on set and I’m just so happy I got to be surrounded by these really pioneers of women around me, Taraji, Fantasia. I felt like they were lifting me up and I was learning so much jus from watching them create,” she explained. “The Color Purple” is in theaters Dec. 25.
