Fran Drescher’s Passionate Speech About SAG-AFTRA Strike: ‘We Are The Victims Here’

On Thursday, SAG-AFTRA announced it is going to strike starting July 14, after it failed to reach a deal with the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers, which represents several major studios. The move will effectively shut down Hollywood and it is the first time the union has gone on strike since 1980. After the union made the announcement, SAG-AFTRA President and actor Fran Drescher delivered a fiery speech explaining why the union had no choice but to call for a strike. “We are the victims here. We are being victimized by a very greedy entity I am shocked by the way the people we have been in business with are treating us,” she said.
