Eva Mendes Shares How Ryan Gosling Perfected His Cuban Accent In Viral ‘SNL’ Skit
Eva Mendes is sharing how her family helped Ryan Gosling with “Saturday Night Live” preparation. While doing an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the 50-year-old revealed that her favorite skit of Ryan’s when he hosted the show on April 13 was titled “Can’t Tonight,” in which he displayed his Cuban accent alongside Keenan Thompson and Marcello Hernandez. She then explained to the late-night host that her father does not speak English, and imitated how the interactions between him and her longtime partner have gone. “He’s been in the country for, you know, 50 something years. Anyway, so when Ryan and he hang out, it’s very much like ‘Ah, my baby. Ha. Hey – that’s my baby. Beautiful – beautiful!’” she mimicked, adding that the encounters influenced the “Barbie” star’s performance. “So, after what, 12 years, it finally paid off.” The author had previously praised the skit and made reference to her father when she took to Instagram April 16, writing,“Coño! My Cuban Papi made this Cuban Mami so happy with this!! Years of hanging out with my Dad paid off. Gracias to the super talented @marcellohdz for this skit. The way you say “Eva Mendes” ! And @kenanthompson always crushing. Can’t wait for this trio’s next reunion.”
