Dwayne Johnson Pays Tribute To WWE Star Darren Drozdov Who Died At Age 54: ‘An Awesome Dude’
The wrestling community is mourning the death of Darren Drozdov, who died at age 54. His former WWE colleague, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, paid tribute to the late wrestler on Twitter on Friday. “Man I’m so sorry to hear one of our ring brothers has passed away,” he wrote on Twitter. “Darren Drozdov aka Droz. We wrestled on a lot of cards together. Such an awesome dude. Great personality and great wrestling talent. We always talked about football and fishing. Sending love, strength, mana and light to his family. RIP brother.” WWE confirmed Darren’s passing in a statement posted on Friday that stated he died from natural causes on June 30. Darren started his career in the NFL as a defensive tackle for the Denver Broncos before briefly joining the Canadian Football League. After his brief stint as a football player, he transitioned to wrestling in the late ’90s. But his career came to an end in 1999 when he suffered a mid-match accident that rendered him a quadriplegic.
