Diddy Reveals Late Ex Kim Porter Visits Him In His Dreams After He Wrote Song About Her
Diddy is in his love era! The hip-hop mogul sat with Access Hollywood to share about his long-awaited new LP, “The Love Album: Off The Grid,” and how the passion project came to fruition. Diddy explained that he collaborated with “the Super Bowl of R&B” including Justin Bieber, Mary J. Blige, Babyface and John Legend, and revealed that he and The Weeknd wrote their song together eight years ago! The icon noted that he doesn’t limit his artistry to one specific project and looked back on how his first job as a paperboy set the stage for his success in the music industry. The dad of seven also got emotional when shown a clip of his three oldest daughters telling Access about what a dedicated father he is. “Every time I look at them, I’m like, ‘I can’t believe I did that,'” he said of the girls. “Like I know God did it, and the mothers of my children, they played a part, but I’m definitely proud, like man. That’s three kids, like, you made it. How did that even happen?” Diddy went on to call fatherhood his “proudest role” and noted the disbelief he still feels over seeing his kids grow up. “It’s surreal to me sometimes. When I look at my daughters it’s surreal. It’s like, ‘Oh God, thank you. That’s all I say, when I see them, like, I can’t thank you [enough] for the blessing.'” Diddy’s latest music touches upon further aspects of his personal life, including a song named after his late ex, Kim Porter, who died unexpectedly in 2018. The mogul shared with Access how he recruited fellow superstars to help him create the right song to not only honor her memory but help keep her spirit with him. “I got with Babyface and I really told him the story of me and Kim and I showed him this picture and I said, ‘Babyface, I know your voice will penetrate the heavens above. I need you to sing this song to Kim and I need her to hear it so she can come and visit me in my dreams,’ and that’s the story I really told him,” Diddy recalled. “And we started writing the song and I was like, ‘I feel like I really want to make sure she gets the message’ and I call John Legend and I was like, ‘John, I need you to sing to the heavens above’ and that’s how we got ‘Kim Porter.’ And she has come and visited me in my dreams. So I have, you know, been able to live the best of both worlds.” “The Love Album: Off the Grid” drops on Diddy Day, Sept. 15, 2023.
