Australia’s Viral Breaker Raygun Breaks Silence On Backlash Over Paris Olympics

Viral Olympic breaker Rachael Gunn, better known as Raygun, is breaking her silence following backlash of her performance at the Paris Olympics which earned zero points. In an Instagram video published Aug. 15, the Australian athlete first thanked her supporters before addressing the “hate” she’s received. “I didn’t realize that would also open the door to so much hate, which has frankly been pretty devastating. I went out there and I had fun – I did take it very seriously. I worked my butt off preparing for the Olympics and I gave my all, truly. I’m honored to have been a part of the Australian Olympic team, and to be part of breaking’s Olympics debut.” The 36-year-old went on to call the false allegations that have surfaced online questioning her qualifications “misinformation,” as she directed people to view a recent statement made by the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC). Raygun ended her video asking the press to “stop harassing” her loved ones, adding that she’s going on a break in Europe for a few weeks for “pre-planned downtime” and will answer more questions upon her return to Australia.
