2025 Golden Globe Awards Snubs & Surprises: ‘Wicked,’ ‘The Substance,’ Selena Gomez & More

The 2025 Golden Globe nominations are here! Award season kicked into high gear with the upcoming ceremony’s list of honorees on Dec. 9, as acclaimed films and shows including “Wicked,” “Shogun” and more all vie for top prizes. Though plenty of fans were thrilled to see their favorites recognized, there were notable names who didn’t make the cut this time. “Wicked’s” Jon M. Chu and “Dune Part 2’s” Denis Villeneuve were both left off the Best Director list despite helming two of the year’s biggest critical and box office successes, and actress Saoirse Ronan didn’t score a nod for either of her acclaimed turns in “The Outrun” or “Blitz.” It was a great morning for Selena Gomez, however, whose “Emilia Pérez” topped the movie side with 10 nods, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, best supporting actress for Selena and co-star Zoe Saldaña and best lead actress for Karla Sofía Gascón. Selena got love for her TV work too, receiving a lead actress in a musical or comedy nomination for “Only Murders in the Building,” though her Season 4 castmate Meryl Streep was not acknowledged in the supporting category.
