Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are boldly relaunching “Star Trek” in the iconic roles of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock on May 7, but at Grauman’s Chinese Theater for the film’s Hollywood premiere on Thursday night, the dynamic duo told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush they had other subjects on their minds.
Billy told Chris that he had Tweeted for interview questions – and gotten dozens of responses asking if the “Star Trek” star was single.
“I’m a single man,” Chris said, thanking Billy for his assistance. “Access Hollywood is the new Match.com!”
But the star said that finding a new lady friend ran second to being with his friends and family at the premiere.
“I think tonight’s gonna be fantastic,” he said. “Anything else will be icing on the cake.”
Meanwhile, Zachary Quinto – who plays Mr. Spock in the new film – told Billy that his main concern is swine flu.
“I’ve just been flying so much lately so I’ve been hyper aware,” Zachary said, adding that he lined the insides of his nostrils with anti-bacterial ointment on plane flights. “I don’t wear a mask. I do have other techniques that I employ.”
And like his on-screen counterpart’s relationship with Captain Kirk, Zachary admitted that he and Chris have become close off-camera as well.
“That guy’s awesome,” he said. “If you need to call it a bromance, you can.”
Lucky for him – and fans – the pair are signed on for future films, with talk of a sequel already beginning.
“We’re signed on for two more,” Zachary said. “Who knows if we’ll actually make them.”
