Dawn Holland created a media firestorm on Tuesday afternoon, when she identified herself on camera as the person who filed a battery complaint with authorities against Lindsay Lohan, and was subsequently fired from the Betty Ford Center.
But who is she?
Little is known about Holland, who worked at Betty Ford Center as what has been described by TMZ as a chemical dependency technician before she was fired last night after speaking to the media.
Access Hollywood has learned from a source close to Holland that she was “reeling” following her employment termination.
She loved her job, the source said.
One reason Holland is so upset, according to the source, is because this happened around the holidays, and she is a single mother of two, something confirmed by court papers from 2009, and obtained by Access.
Holland, 46, has two children, a teenage daughter and a son, who is grade school age. She also has a granddaughter, possibly the child of her adult daughter-in-law (about 22-years-old), again, listed in court papers.
The incident with Lohan is not the first time Holland has contacted the authorities about alleged abuse. In the aforementioned court papers obtained by Access, Holland claimed several instances of domestic violence at the hands of an ex, including being pushed and choked, and verbally, emotionally and physically abused. While the ex denied her claims, Dawn Holland asked for (and was granted) a 5-year restraining order against the ex, whom Access Hollywood has chosen not to name.
Attempts to reach Holland by Access Hollywood on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
