In “Angels & Demons,” Tom Hanks reprises his role as Robert Langdon in a prequel to 2006’s “The Da Vinci Code,” – but is the actor onboard for a third movie?
Access Hollywood’s Tim Vincent caught up with Tom this weekend in Rome, where the actor revealed that he’s up to play the globetrotting symbolist a third time – if all the right parts of the puzzle are in place.
“If it makes sense I’ll be happy to,” Tom said of reprising his role. “It doesn’t come down to where it takes place or what the character is. It really comes down to… is ii going to examine a theme that’s going to be worthy of making another movie?”
Though Tom, who was in Rome for the film’s world premiere on Monday, said location is not a factor in his decision to play Langdon again, he admitted he’s had a few suggestions for author Dan Brown, who is releasing another novel from the series in September
“Have you said anything to Dan about where the next book [should be] set?” Tim asked the “Angels & Demons” star.
“No, but, he won’t tell me! I keep giving him hints.” Tom said. “Nothing wrong with an adventure in the Bahamas!”
And though Tom is 52 years old, the actor shows off his toned body in a sexy Speedo scene in “Angels,” which is sure to delight Charlize Theron, who recently told Access that she finds the actor’s backside very appealing.
“He’s got a really, really good a**. It’s like on a shelf!” Charlize previously told Access.
“Oh Charlize, she’s a dear,” Tom said of his “That Thing You Do!” co-star. “Any woman who would compliment your a** is one to hold onto!”
“Angels & Demons” opens in theaters on May 15.
