Tom Cruise was in Los Angeles for the premiere of “Valkyrie” on Thursday night, while Katie Holmes was in New York performing on Broadway in “All My Sons,” but that didn’t stop Tom from planning a surprise for Katie’s 30th birthday.
“Tonight we’ve got a few surprises in store there that we set up with [John] Lithgow and the audience, they’re all going to sing her ‘Happy Birthday’ on stage, on Broadway, tonight with the audience and the cast,” Tom told Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush at the Los Angeles premiere of his new movie. “It’s gonna be really special.”
Tom also arranged for a cake to be brought out onstage after the performance.
Even daughter Suri had a few birthday surprises for her mom.
“Her art and things that that she painted and she worked, little surprises,” Tom told Billy when asked how their 2-year-old daughter helped with the celebration. “Daughter to mother surprises. Really beautiful, beautiful things.”
