It’s Sadie Hawkins dance time on ABC’s “The Goldbergs.”
Troy Gentile’s Barry Goldberg is about to get a little closer with his teenage crush Lainey (AJ Michalka). But, like most things Goldbergs related, mom Beverly will be meddling (thanks to a little push from Erica).
“Erica does not want her best friend dating her brother by any means so my character goes and tries to get our mother involved, who is the matchmaker of the town, and so I try to hook Barry up with a girl and she happens to be a lot like Beverly,” Hayley Orrantia, who plays Erica, told Access Hollywood, when we visited the cast on set.

Wendi McLendon-Covey said Beverly also isn’t excited by the possibility of a Lainey/Barry romance.
“Bev is not ok with it,” Wendi told Access.

“Bev’s not thrilled, but she has picked out soulmates for each of her children, if only they would ask,” Wendi continued. “So Bev does get involved.”
Barry’s heart, however, is set on Lainey.
“He’s totally convinced that Lainey’s in love with him,” Troy said.
Fans of the show will be pleased to know that Wednesday night’s episode, airing at 8:30/7:30c, will also feature a special treat – Big Tasty!

“There’s some like break dancing and some Big Tasty moves, so yeah, it’s a really, really fun episode,” Troy said.
Allie Grant, from “Suburgatory,” also joins the mix as a guest star.
