Terry Crews is facing backlash from fans and A-listers alike after he tweeted a controversial statement on the Black Lives Matter movement.
On Tuesday, the “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actor tweeted that he thinks it’s important “#blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter.”
If you are a child of God, you are my brother and sister. I have family of every race, creed and ideology.
We must ensure #blacklivesmatter doesn’t morph into #blacklivesbetter

Many followers stated they did not agree with Terry’s comment, pointing out that “equal” and “better” were much different goals.
“21 Jump Street” actress Holly Robinson Peete responded to the 52-year-old’s tweet with an angry comment.
Terry😡 we trying to “matter” and get to “equal” and you are worried about better?? 🛑 🤫

This is unintellectual and irresponsible. You are developing into an enemy of the people. Ignorance will be your downfall.

It’s truly embarrassing how you keep displaying your poor reading comprehension and lack of critical thinking

Even Bernice King, the youngest child of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., weighed in on Terry’s comment.
“We’re so far from that bridge, Terry. #BlackLivesMatter is, in part, a rallying cry and a protest slogan to galvanize people into doing the justice work needed to derail the deaths, dehumanization and destruction of Black lives that racism causes. Justice is not a competition.”

The “White Chicks” actor took notice of King’s tweet and responded in kind.
You are right, @BerniceKing. I just want to make sure it stays that way. No competition, just creativity.#blacklivesmatter https://t.co/d06xYL78y3
