Taylor Momsen On Her Rock Band: ‘You’re Hearing My Diaries’

On “Gossip Girl,” Taylor Momsen’s Little J is a fashion rebel – but in real life, the star told MTV News that music’s her outlet.

“I love rock and roll, man,” she said. “It feeds my soul. It’s what fits me, and it’s how I can express myself.”

Taylor’s band, Pretty Reckless, just scored a record deal with Interscope. The band is on the road with rocker girls the Veronicas while “Gossip Girl” is on season hiatus.

“It’s definitely not what people are going to expect,” she said of the band’s noisy live show. “You’re gonna get a little bit shell-shocked.”

The 16-year-old star looks to the past for inspiration, citing Blondie singer Debbie Harry as her biggest influence.

“I have so many female idols,” she said. “Debbie Harry I think is brilliant and Joan Jett and Cherie Currie did their thing. And I think Courtney Love worked it out in her time. But Debbie Harry by far is just brilliant.”

But when it comes to lyrics, Taylor gets personal.

“I write it all,” she said. “You’re hearing my life, so you’re hearing my diaries. Have fun!”

Of course, Taylor’s not the only musician on the “Gossip” set – Ed Westwick is in the Filthy Youth, Chace Crawford is gearing up for the starring role in musical remake “Footloose,” and Leighton Meester is working on a solo album.

“Everyone does their thing,” Taylor said, adding that she hasn’t had any insider access to their various projects. “I haven’t heard a ton of it, so I’ve heard only what you guys have heard online. It’s great.”
