Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is resting comfortably after undergoing a pulmonary lobectomy at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

“Two nodules in the lower lobe of her left lung were discovered incidentally during tests performed at George Washington University Hospital to diagnose and treat rib fractures sustained in a fall on November 7,” a release from the Supreme Court’s media office read.

Following the Justice’s November fall, biopsies and additional tests uncovered non-small cell cancerous lesions, NPR reported.

But, both of the nodules removed during Friday’s surgery were malignant following the initial pathology evaluation, according to the latest media release. There is “no evidence of any remaining disease” and no further treatment is planned.

The Justice will remain at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City for a few days.
