“Supergirl” will take flight at CBS.
The network must have loved the pilot from executive producers Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Sarah Schechter and Andrew Kreisberg because CBS has ordered it to series, Access Hollywood has learned.
“Glee” alum Melissa Benoist stars as Kara Zor-El (Supergirl), who was sent to earth as a child by her mother Alura (Laura Benanti), as her home planet, Krypton, was destroyed.

The series is expected to follow a 24-year-old Kara as she begins her journey toward becoming a hero.
Calista Flockhart plays Cat Grant, Kara’s boss at CatCo. Mehcad Brooks stars as James Olsen, the art director at CatCo (but a former Daily Planet employee). “Homeland” alum David Harewood plays Hank Henshaw, the boss of the Department of Extra-Normal Operations (DEO), while Chyler Leigh (“Grey’s Anatomy) plays Kara’s earth foster sister, Alexandra Danvers.
No word yet on which CBS shows “Supergirl” will be paired with on the schedule.
