Sochi: How Did Kaitlyn Farrington Celebrate Her Gold Medal?

U.S. snowboarder Kaitlyn Farrington won the gold medal in Sochi for the halfpipe and the young athlete tells Access Hollywood she’s still in shock over her win.

“It’s just amazing. I can’t even believe it,” Kaitlyn told Access’ Billy Bush at the Winter Olympics of her new medal. “It’s so surreal right now. It really hasn’t even sunken in that I’m the gold medalist.”

And how did the Idaho native celebrate?

“I did a little dancing, and that’s about it. I went out and celebrated with everyone and got to see my coach and was just excited,” she said.

Kaitlyn’s parents (who were on hand in Sochi to see their daughter’s big moment) are cattle farmers, and the snowboarder said her family had definitely made sacrifices in order to make her athletic dreams a possibility.

“I grew up on a ranch. When I first started competing and going to different contests, my parents would sell a cow just to fund that, because it was expensive getting around the country and trying to snowboard and be part of the community that it is,” she said. “That’s how I started out. I’m sure they’re not missing those cows right now!”

Beyond the snow, Kaitlyn said she is currently single, but has admitted she’s had her heart set on a Hollywood heartthrob for years.

“I have an all-time crush on Zac Efron,” she said with a laugh. “Since ‘High School Musical’!”
