Simone Biles is showing spectators of the 2024 Paris Olympics that she is the G.O.A.T. not only in her performance, but her choice of jewelry too.
After making history in the women’s all-around final on Aug. 1, the gymnast held up her newest gold medal as well as a cute goat pendant that was on a silver chain around her neck.
The sparkly charm is of course a reference to being dubbed the G.O.A.T, or Greatest of All Time, in the world of gymnastics.
“My GOAT necklace is just kind of an ode because the people love it and then some people hate it, so it’s like the best of both worlds,” she said in an interview soon after her victory. “I was like, ‘Okay, if it goes well, we’ll wear the GOAT necklace, I know people will go crazy over it. But at the end of the day, it is crazy that I am in the conversation of greatest of all athletes because I just still think I’m Simone Biles of Spring, Texas that loves to flip.”
With her latest victory, the 27-year-old undeniably cemented that status further, making history once again at the 2024 Olympics. Biles is now the first American gymnast to win gold in the all-around final more than once.
After Team USA’s win in the team final earlier in the week, the Olympian became the most decorated U.S Olympic gymnast.
While Simone has won big so far, she’s not done yet in Paris. She will next compete in the vault final on Aug. 3 before heading to the balance beam and floor exercise finals on Aug. 5.
