DATING IS ‘DIFFERENT’ FOR KATE: Kate Hudson may be on the dating scene again, but her heart belongs to someone special: her 3 year-old son, Ryder. “You realize after you have had children that you’ll never love anything more than your child,” she tells HARPER’S BAZAAR for their September issue (PEOPLE reports). “So it makes the new sort of single-mom dating process very different.” And though she and Ryder’s father, Chris Robinson, are in the divorce process, Hudson says she still maintains a solid friendship with him: “We still talk everyday. He still cracks me up. And Ryder feels that.” Kate is currently rumored to be dating actor Dax Shepard.
BRING ON THE BABIES!: Some other celebrity couples are feeling the joy of parenthood with new babies. White Stripes frontman Jack White and wife welcomed their second child, Henry Lee White, on Tuesday, the ASSOCIATED PRESS reports. Actress Sara Gilbert (“Roseanne,” “ER”) and partner Allison Adler welcomed daughter Sawyer Gilbert Adler on Aug. 2, says VARIETY’s ARMY ARCHERD. They also have a son, Levi, who is three years old. Another couple will have a new family addition soon, as director Tim Burton and actress Helena Bonham Carter are expecting their second child together, PEOPLE reports. The baby is reportedly due in December.
A LABORING AUDITION: Another birth made headlines this week, though the mother isn’t a star… yet. “American Idol” hopeful Antoria Gillon went into labor on Monday at the show’s season seven auditions in Texas, FOX NEWS reports. Despite having contractions, Gillon was determined to see the audition through. “I was more than willing to have my baby right there, Antoria reportedly said. I wasnt leaving without my golden ticket to the next round. Her perseverence paid off, as she is reportedly still in the running for the competition. A waiting ambulance reportedly took her to a local hospital after her audition, where she gave birth to a healthy baby boy named…Jamil Labarron Idol McCowan.
AMERICAN BRIDAL: In other “Idol” news, season six finalist Gina Glocksen got engaged this week to her longtime boyfriend…while she was on stage! Chicago’s DAILY SOUTHTOWN reports that Glocksen, 23, had just finished a song at Tuesday’s “American Idol Live” concert in Rosemont, Illinois, when her boyfriend Joe Ruzicka came onto the stage. In front of a “clearly puzzled” Glocksen, Ruzicka told the audience that he was “the biggest Gina Glocksen fan of all” and proposed. Gina’s answer was reportedly inaudible amid the roar of the crowd, but a kiss confirmed her acceptance.
FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE: Actress Mischa Barton was recently accepted with open arms by Russian fans, but their exuberance left her feeling puzzled. THE NY DAILY NEWS’ BEN WIDDICOMBE spoke to the “glamorous” Mischa at a dinner honoring singer Rihanna Monday night, and Barton told him of her fan encounters at a recent Teen Vogue cover shoot in Moscow’s Red Square: “Everyone told me, ‘I loved “Lonely Heart,”’ which confused me,” she reportedly laughed. “But it turns out that is what The O.C.’ was called in Russia.”
REALITY CHECK: “Project Runway” season one champ Jay McCarroll recently told NEW YORK MAGAZINE that he’s had trouble getting design work since his big win on the Bravo show. I havent been living anywhere for two years, he reportedly said from his small NYC studio. I sleep at other peoples houses. I sleep here if Im drunk. The article deems him “homeless,” but THE NY DAILY NEWS’ RUSH & MOLLOY claim that McCarroll actually has an apartment in Manhattan, and that he told them “I was just having fun” in regards to the article. Joke or no, McCarroll is currently in a humorous video on YouTube in which he roams the streets of NYC in a shirt that says “homeless” with a sign that reads, “will design for food.”
