Richard Madden was on the set of his Discovery miniseries, “Klondike,” the day after one of the most shocking episodes of television – the “Game of Thrones” Red Wedding – aired in 2013.
“People were mostly annoyed… because I’d not told them,” Richard recently told Access Hollywood of the reaction he got the day after his character tragically met his end on the HBO show.
As he filmed his latest role as Bill Haskell on “Klondike,” which wraps up Wednesday night on Discovery, Richard was hearing excited comments from the “Game of Thrones” fans on the set of his latest television offering.
“They’re going, ‘Ahh! Can’t wait. Last week’s episode was so good.’ So they’d come in every week and people would be like, ‘Oh my God. This happened,’ and, ‘Don’t tell me what’s happening next week,’ and you’re like, ‘Ok, I won’t,’” Richard said.
“And then it comes and it happens and you get into work and people are like, ‘Why didn’t you tell me!’” he added. “They were just devastated.”

It wasn’t his fellow actors in “Klondike” who were crushed by the death of the King in the North, Robb Stark, on “Thrones,” but rather the people who outfitted him in gold-rush gear.
“It was mostly costume department actually that were really upset, because they watched it and loved it,” he said.
The final installment of “Klondike” kicks off tonight at 9/8c on Discovery.
