DJ AM and model Hayley Wood broke up days before his death, according to multiple online reports.
According to TMZ, sources said the star had been “completely devastated” over losing Hayley, 22, who reportedly split with him within the last week.
And a source told People that “he hadn’t been in a good place” after the break-up, which the mag reported occurred in recent weeks.
“She ended it, and he didn’t want it to end,” the source told the mag. “The break-up hurt him. For the past week, he wasn’t really around, he was keeping to himself, and he was blowing people off.”
Earlier this month, she posted a video on her YouTube page – now closed – of herself with DJ AM, AKA Adam Goldstein, smiling while vacationing on a yacht in France.
The former couple was first spotted stepping out last December.
The celebrity DJ, who famously survived a plane crash last September with collaborator Travis Barker, was found dead in New York City on Friday. He was 36.
Police sources also told Access Hollywood that Goldstein is believed to have died of a drug overdose.
Additionally, police sources told Access’ New York affiliate WNBC that drug paraphernalia was found at the scene, including a crack pipe.
A rep for DJ AM released a statement to Access on Friday evening, asking for privacy for Goldstein’s family.
“Adam ‘DJ AM’ Goldstein was found deceased this afternoon in his New York City apartment. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Out of respect for his family and loved ones, please respect their privacy at this time,” the statement read.
