Sorry, ladies, Randy Couture has a girlfriend. But the “Dancing with the Stars” contestant – who made his show debut Monday night alongside Karina Smirnoff (to the delight of women everywhere, including judge Julianne Hough) – said he’s happy to be gaining female fans.
“Normally my fan base is male from fighting and they’re — guys melt down!” the UFC champion told Access Hollywood’s Shaun Robinson of star struck male fans, when asked about getting attention from the ladies after the “Dancing” Season 19 premiere on Monday night. “It’s just like, you have no idea.
“[My girlfriend’s] like, ‘Now the girls are gonna start recognizing you, so…” he added with a laugh.
Karina said she’s “not surprised” her new “DWTS” partner became an instant hit with the girls after his impressively graceful fox trot performance, which earned the pair a 31/40.
“I’ve been getting text messages left and right asking if he’s single, asking if I can introduce him,” Karina said. “I was like, ‘Lay off! This is a dancing show.'”
As for their dance, Randy said he fell into the rhythm of the choreography just days ago.
“I think it was a little over a week ago — I just kinda had a breakthrough,” he said. “A lot of the steps came through for me. We had been working at it in sections. We finally got our kind of music so we could put everything in all together. And I think once all those dots connected and I could see it in my head [it came together].
“I come back the next day and [Karina] was like, ‘What did you do last night?!'” he added.
Karina said she was very proud of the former fighter’s first ballroom performance.
“Incredible job! [He] kept it together. I was more nervous than Randy, times a million,” she said. “He was composed. He knew what he was doing and I was like, ‘That’s my partner!'”
