President Joe Biden Announces He’s Suspending Reelection Campaign, Endorses Vice President Kamala Harris

President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he is suspending his reelection campaign.

In a statement posted to his official social media accounts, the President highlighted his accomplishments over the past three and a half years as he acknowledged that being President was “the greatest honor” of his life. He then shared his decision, writing,“…While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”

The President added that he will address the Nation later this week in more detail about his decision.

Shortly after Biden’s announcement, he shared on ‘X,’ formerly Twitter, that Vice President Kamala Harris has his endorsement, writing in part, “Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

This is a developing story.
